Last night, some of us went for the IPL match. I can’t even
begin to describe the euphoria but here’s a glimpse – we have hoarse voices
from cheering, our feet ache from stamping them but we are on top of the world
today! Yes! We had what is called an evening well spent. It was like the world
had set out to make sure we had fun!
But what was the most amazing sight, was a couple, both grey
haired, bent over with age, holding hands and walking into the stands to enjoy
the match...and enjoy they did! He shot it on his camera phone, she got her bag
stolen! And the best part was, she told security, but didn’t budge from her
seat. They were so busy having fun, cheering with the younger lot, that they
didn’t care!
But it set me thinking...all of us are so caught up in
work and wondering what’s on the other side of getting out of the comfort zone,
that we keep doing the same things over and over again. Also, if it were a work
do, we’d all show up and be in front of the line, but we never do it for
ourselves! We go for the most boring off sites (some of us even end up
sacrificing our weekends for this), are the epitome of good cheer at an office parties,
will go to the ends of the world to participate in anything that helps our careers,
but when it comes to something that may enrich our lives, we get lazy.
Another thought that came up was, I want to do things now!
Not wait till I’m 80. And who knows, as I get older, I may not have anyone to
do these fun things with. And this
couple, are my new role models!
When I am old I want to end up giving a whoop, a bottle of champagne in my hand and screaming...ah ...what a fabulous life!
