Are You in an E-Relationship
You’ll never know the truth unless you meet him.

Once upon a time, there was a princess. Then she met a prince. He rescued her from dangerous dragons, courted her and met her with flowers, gifts and what have you. Then he asked her father for her hand in marriage and they lived happily ever after.

This is the story we would all like to live. What we often get is this.

There was a girl, who met a guy online, he chatted with her, sent her e-cards and e-gifts. They stayed in a relationship for a long time, but he was too busy to meet her. She finally gave up and moved on to the next e-relationship.

I was speaking to a friend who was wondering what her relationship was about. Her story was the same. She met a guy who was eligible, nice looking, from a great family and right in every way – except he had no time to meet her. It had been eight weeks and they had met once for five minutes when he came to her office to drop something. She calls it a date.

When she spoke to me about this relationship, I was aghast. At what point do educated girls become the queens of daft?

Sure, there were sweet good mornings, delightful texts all day, long calls from all over the world, but where was the man? Her reply was, “He’s asked her out for a New Year’s party!” He was really busy and she was really patient, so she’d see him then. I felt compelled to point out that the only important thing in this relationship was missing – the man! She was in a relationship with her phone. Currently, she is not speaking to me, but I’m sure she’ll come around.

Meanwhile, here is what to watch out for in an e-relationship!

When you fall for the wit and the funny messages – the other party is not sitting across from you, having to think up answers. He has the time to make use of google or ask his friends. Insist on meeting up to know if he really is that funny.

He seems tall, very nice looking and well groomed in his pictures – but is that really him? It’s easy to build a larger than life persona online. All he needs to do is put up a few pictures which have been clicked from great angles. If you want to know if he really is that tall, meet him.He seems really popular and well travelled; again, meet him to know the truth.

Moral of the story – meet him! If he doesn’t have time to meet you and you’ve been e-dating for two months, you may be the only one in this relationship.

If he doesn’t have time to meet you but is inviting you for a New Year bash, he simply wants to look like a cool guy with a date in front of his friends. If he wants that date, insist on meeting him several times before New Year's and see if you really want to spend that evening with him. In other words, meet him.

It is very easy to start believing that you have something special going from messages, emails and calls. But you’ll never know the truth unless you meet him. So for God’s sake, get your head out of the Internet cloud and have a relationship with a real person. Keep that phone for sweet nothings after he drops you home from a fabulous date in person.
